FACILITIES & CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Students are trained in various games like Volley Ball, Throw Ball, Kabbadi, Kho Kho and Badminton. The Sports Day is an exultant day with various track and field events like the Sprints, Relays, Long Jumps, Shot Put and Javelin Throw being conducted. The House system divides students into 4 houses – Arjuna, Drona, Yudhistira & Ekalavya (ADYE) to inculcate a sense of belonging and team spirit while including healthy competition.

Yoga & Karate

The physical and mental well-being of students is nurtured with the conduct of karate and yoga by qualified instructors.

Dance & Music

Students are taught to play instrumental music with the guitar or keyboard and given opportunities to practice and learn dance with classes being conducted once a week.

Workshops and Seminars

Improvement is not possible without change and teachers are the leaders of change. The teachers at SAPS are provided with Orientation programs to equip them with various strategies and techniques of teaching and to enhance their competence.
Workshops are organized for the students of High School to direct them into right paths and to guide them as they transform into enlightened citizens of society.

Life Skills

Life Skills are essential individual abilities taught to students that help mental growth and competence in young people when they face the realities of life. We work towards helping them acquire the knowledge and skills which leads to behaviours that foster healthy relationships while enabling leadership qualities.

Metric Mela

An educational event that helps students to gain experience in trade and marketing. Given an opportunity to sell products of their choice, they calculate profit and loss. The ‘mela’ is a charitable venture with a percentage of the profit contributed to orphanages or old age homes.

Competitions

The talents of students are discovered and recognized by giving opportunities to participate in interschool (like Talent Tests, National Olympiads and competitive language exams) and intra school competitions (like art, quiz, music and dance)

School Trips

The school organizes trips to Resorts, Cultural and Heritage sites, Community Service Centers, Museums, Planetariums, Science and Research Organizations. The trip are an amalgam of fun and frolic learning along with fascination and a sense of adventure.

Reading

SAPS encourages the reading habit in students by conducting book fairs, in association with Scholastic India, at the school premises. The students get an opportunity to browse through the various genres of books from fairy tales to science fiction.
The school also conducts ‘Newspaper in Education’ with Deccan Herald to enrich vocabulary, elevate literary skills and keep students up to date with world affairs.
The school library houses a wide collection of books and periodicals. Projects and assignments demand extra reading and reference from the students and the library serves as a valuable resource.

Inspire

The annual school magazine, “Inspire”, gives an account of various activities and achievements of the school while providing a platform for children to enhance their literary talents.

Cleanliness

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

Cleanliness is one of the traits of SAPS. The students clean their classrooms and ensure that they are neat and tidy before they leave school everyday. Cleanliness starts from home, they say and therefore the parents are also requested to help develop this habit in children at home. Let cleanliness and discipline be our way of life.

The Morning Assembly

Before beginning their day, the principal, students and teachers assemble together and participate in Light Channeling (a method of meditation), the school prayer and patriotic songs while the thought for the day, Health tips, personal anecdotes of good work done and birthday wishes are also shared.
An assembly that highlights values is conducted once every week to inculcate values in the young people. The Holy Scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible and the Quran are read to help students understand the importance of religious tolerance in a multi-cultural country like India. The assembly also sees a science talk being delivered by the staff of science in order to update the students with recent scientific developments.

Lubricating The Cogwheels

Our teachers participate in various seminars conducted by the CBSE, Bangalore Sahodhaya and other CBSE empanelled agencies. As professional development of a teacher has direct impact on student performance, the school takes up numerous in-house workshops. The workshops conducted are a fine amalgamation of pedagogical knowledge, practical tools and inspiration. The Skills to Succeed Teacher support programme equips teachers with skills to enhance effectiveness and productivity in classroom teaching. The other topics covered are Developing High Order Thinking Skills, Combining Montessori and Play way Methodology in class room teaching, Use of Story telling as a tool for class room education, English Language and Communication,etc.

Light Channeling

Light channeling session during the morning assembly allows light which carries energies of healing love, peace and all positivity to descend into the students and then spread around the world.

Career Counselling

The students are registered for career counselling programs that empower schools to help students plan their careers, as they discover their strengths and learn about the opportunities available to them. This programme will enable the school, students and parents to transform academic progress into a fruitful career.

Technology In Education

Computer-aided learning with classrooms equipped with smart boards, well-equipped laboratories for science, math and computer contribute to interactive learning that strives to go ahead beyond textbook. Setting up of English Language Lab is next in the agenda.

Sports

Sports events are conducted class-wise and students are encouraged in both outdoor and indoor games. The Sports Day is great day for all students. Team events like Volley Ball, Throw Ball, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho and Tug-of-War are the most exciting of all.

Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM)

Regular PTMs are conducted to keep the parent and the teacher connected in the interest of the progress well-being of students. Parent - Teacher Meeting is conducted class-wise to discuss the Safety of Children both at school as well as at home.

Child Safety

In the light of the recent child abuse incidents in the city, the school has taken steps to bolster and strengthen the safety measures already existing and has set up new systems to safeguard its children. CCTV is installed in all the classrooms, corridors, cellar, school ground and at the entrance. Security guards from a reputed agency are deployed round the clock and the details of the both teaching and non-teaching staff are submitted in the police station for verification. The school has implemented all the measures as per the Government guidelines and directions.

Health Check Up

Student’s health checkup is conducted every year by qualified doctors. Workshops on child psychology are conducted for teachers by eminent Psychiatrists. Inattention, over activity and hyperactivity are the topics covered.

Book Fair

Book fairs are conducted by Scholastic India Pvt Ltd and Kids Today in the school premises to encourage reading habits in children.

Important Days

National festivals and important days like Gandhi Jayanthi, Independence Day, Janmastami, Kannada Rajyotsava, Hindi Divas, Kannada Dinacharanae, Teachers Day, Children’s Day etc., celebrated in its true spirit.
